Documentation for Stranola
Stranola clones dozens or hundreds of PCs over the local network in minutes, not in hours — and the larger the deployment, the faster it goes. No bottleneck from a central server, without reconfiguring the network, without agents on the customers.
The two components
| Component | Paper |
|---|---|
| netdd | Transfer engine. Reads a raw disk and distributes it via P2P at the speed the network allows: streaming decompression, direct-to-disk writing, integrity with blake3, automatic resumption, distributed mode (sparse). |
| NetEdge | Web Orchestrator. Manages groups of PCs, image repositories, deployment recipes, PXE/iPXE/TFTP/DHCP boot, scheduling, alerts, auditing, and real-time dashboards. |
Where to Start
- Architecture — how the P2P swarm and hybrid multicast fit together.
- Installation — Run Stranola using Docker Compose.
- First Deployment — from a blank installation to your first clone.
